What is the difference between Studio Hire, Audio Podcast, Video Podcast, and Managed Production?

Studio Hire (£30/hr) is the space only — the acoustically treated studio, a flexible set, studio lighting, power and Wi-Fi, and a basic orientation — for photographers, videographers, agencies, and creators with their own kit. Audio Podcast (£40/hr) adds a RØDECaster Pro II, up to four RØDE PodMics and RØDE NTH-100 headphones, DJI wireless mics where required, setup and sound check, a technical induction, support during the session, and same-day file delivery. Video Podcast (£65/hr) includes everything in Audio Podcast plus a Sony Alpha a6400 main camera and two DJI Osmo Action 4 cameras for up to three angles, with raw audio and video files supplied. Managed Production (£90/hr) includes everything in Video Podcast plus a dedicated technician throughout, who monitors audio and cameras, manages recording, handles technical issues, runs a backup recording, supports remote guests where required, and manages your files after the session. Editing is not included in any tier.

What is included in every session?

Every booking includes the acoustically treated studio, a flexible set, studio lighting, power and Wi-Fi, and a basic orientation. Every equipment booking — Audio Podcast, Video Podcast, or Managed Production — also includes equipment setup and basic technical support. Do I need to know how to use the equipment?

Accepted Answer

No. On Audio Podcast and Video Podcast sessions we set up the equipment, run a sound check, give you a technical induction, and are available for support during the session, so you can run the recording yourself. If you would rather not touch the kit at all, Managed Production includes a dedicated technician who monitors audio and cameras and manages the recording throughout, so you can focus entirely on the conversation.

Can we record video as well as audio?

Yes. Video Podcast and Managed Production include a Sony Alpha a6400 main camera and two DJI Osmo Action 4 cameras for up to three camera angles, recorded alongside your audio. Audio Podcast is audio only. On Studio Hire you are welcome to bring your own cameras.

Can remote guests join our session?

Yes, on the Managed Production tier. Remote guest support is provided by the dedicated technician where required. If remote guests are central to your recording, mention it when you book so we can plan the setup.

When do we receive our files?

Accepted Answer

Audio Podcast sessions include same-day file delivery, and Video Podcast and Managed Production supply raw audio and video files. Managed Production also includes file management after the session. If you commission editing from Hermes Digital, the turnaround is confirmed with your quote.

Question 7

Who handles editing and post-production?

Accepted Answer

Editing and post-production are not included in any studio tier. They are provided by Hermes Digital, our co-located commercial production and marketing partner, and quoted according to your requirements. Services include podcast editing and mastering, multi-camera video editing, branded intros and outros, captions and subtitles, YouTube-ready episodes, Reels, Shorts and social clips, audiograms, thumbnails, and campaign assets. We will always confirm scope, turnaround, and pricing before any post-production work begins.

Can Hermes Digital help with wider marketing?

Yes. If you need more than a recording — campaign production, paid social creative, content strategy, website or landing page work, or ongoing marketing support — Hermes Digital can take the handoff from your studio session. Speak to us at booking or after your session and we will introduce the right team.

How many people can record at once?

Accepted Answer

Both studio sets accommodate up to 4 people — perfect for a host plus 3 guests. If you need more capacity for a larger production, please contact us to discuss options.

What are the session times?

Accepted Answer

Half-day sessions run from 09:00 to 13:00 (4 hours). Full-day sessions run from 09:00 to 17:00 (8 hours). Both include setup time, with a technical induction on equipment bookings and a basic orientation on Studio Hire. Contact us if you need a bespoke session length.

Is Folkestone easy to reach from London?

Yes. Folkestone Central has direct trains from London St Pancras — the journey takes around an hour. The studio is a 6-minute walk from Folkestone Central station. Free on-site parking is also available at Ingles Yard for those travelling by car.

How does my booking support British Veteran Owned?

Kent Content Hub is a trading venture of British Veteran Owned (BVO), a non-profit that supports veteran-owned businesses across the UK. Studio booking revenue helps fund BVO's free business verification scheme, community programmes, subsidised studio access, skills workshops, and mentorship — keeping the organisation self-sufficient without relying on grants or donations.

Can we receive a CSR or ESG impact report?

Yes. For corporate, public-sector, and organisational buyers, we can provide a branded impact summary showing how your studio spend supported BVO's work with veteran-owned businesses. This is suitable for ESG reporting, CSR communications, social value procurement submissions, and stakeholder updates. Ask us at the time of booking.

Can agencies book the studio for client work?

Absolutely. The studio is well-suited for agency client shoots, with two distinct set aesthetics, professional kit, technical support options, and a white-label-friendly environment. Crews with their own kit can book Studio Hire. Contact us to discuss recurring-production or volume rates.

What is the cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

You can cancel free of charge, or move your booking once, up to 48 hours before your session. Cancelling between 48 and 24 hours before costs 50% of the booking; under 24 hours, or not turning up, costs the full amount. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for full details.

What should I bring to my session?

Accepted Answer

Just bring any personal items you need — laptop, notes, branded materials. On Audio Podcast, Video Podcast, and Managed Production sessions, the recording equipment is provided and set up for you. Studio Hire is the space only, so bring your own kit. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early for your induction.

Yes. Studio Hire (£30/hr) is designed for photographers, videographers, agencies, and creators who bring their own kit. On equipment tiers you are also welcome to bring preferred microphones, cameras, or other gear, and our team can help integrate it with the studio setup.
